The Construction Management concentration in the Department of Engineering and Technology Management (ENGT) at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is preparing students for the modern construction industry through hands-on training with widely used construction management software and emerging technologies.

As construction projects become increasingly data-driven and technology-focused, ENGT students are gaining experience with tools commonly used across the design, estimating, scheduling, coordination, and field management process. Industry leaders continue to emphasize the growing importance of digital construction workflows and technology integration in construction management education.

Students in the ENGT Construction Management program are introduced to software platforms, including:

  • AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • Navisworks
  • Bluebeam
  • Primavera P6
  • SafetyClerk

The program also plans to introduce Ediphi, a preconstruction and estimating platform designed specifically for commercial construction workflows.

In addition to software training, the department recently expanded its surveying and geospatial technology capabilities with new Trimble S5 robotic total stations. To complement this equipment, students and faculty will soon begin utilizing Trimble Business Center software to support surveying, layout, data processing, and construction field applications.

These technologies are integrated throughout coursework and applied learning experiences to help students develop technical, project management, and field coordination skills aligned with current industry practices.

The ENGT Construction Management concentration continues to expand its focus on workforce readiness, immersive learning, and industry-aligned technology as part of the department’s growing Construction Management Innovation initiatives.
