The Department of Engineering & Technology Management at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is enhancing Construction Management education through the integration of industry-leading Trimble surveying technology. The new equipment expands hands-on learning opportunities while strengthening the department's commitment to innovation and workforce readiness.

The department added Trimble S5 robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, field controllers, and Trimble Business Center software. Faculty collaborated with Navigation Electronics Inc., to integrate advanced surveying workflows and instructional applications that reflect current construction industry practices.

Students will use the same technology employed by construction professionals to perform site layout, collect and process field data, verify project accuracy, and support digital construction workflows. The technology will be incorporated throughout the curriculum, enhancing laboratory instruction, field exercises, and experiential learning while preparing graduates for success in today's technology-driven construction industry.
